On the morning of May 16, the School of Bioengineering of Zhejiang University of Technology visited the School of Life Science and Technology of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) to carry out research and exchange activities. Cao Hui, party secretary and Tong Yigang, dean of School of Life Sciences and Technology of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Xue Yaping, dean of School of Bioengineering of Zhejiang University of Technology, Lin Jingshan, party secretary, and other leaders of the two colleges as well as leaders of the relevant disciplines and majors attended the meeting. The symposium was hosted by Wang Lei, Vice Dean of School of Life, Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
At the beginning of the meeting, leaders from both sides delivered speeches. On behalf of the School of Life of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Mr. Cao Hui, Secretary of the School of Life of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, warmly welcomed the arrival of the delegation from Zhejiang University of Technology. He pointed out that under the policy background that the state vigorously promotes the collaborative development of higher education and the cross-fertilization of disciplines, this exchange is an important opportunity for the two colleges to strengthen cooperation and realize resource sharing, and he looked forward to exploring the path of innovative development in the field of bioengineering through in-depth communication.
Afterwards, President Tong Yigang comprehensively introduced the development of the School of Life of Beijing University of Chemical Technology around the basic situation of the School, discipline construction, faculty strength, talent attraction and so on, showing the strong strength and unique advantages of the School in the field of bioengineering. Dean Xue Yaping shared the development strategy of ZJTU School of Bioengineering, which is “Strengthening the School with Characteristics, Developing the School with Talents”, and emphasized the experience and achievements of the School in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, undergraduate education reform, and university-enterprise joint cultivation, etc. The two sides exchanged views on the development of the School of Bioengineering.
In the exchange and discussion session, the two sides closely followed the national policy requirements on the high-quality development of higher education and science and technology innovation-driven development, and conducted in-depth discussions on key issues such as party building, talent introduction, assessment and evaluation system for faculty and staff, declaration of scientific research projects and transformation of scientific research results, and talent cultivation. Especially for the construction of “AI + Bio-manufacturing Oriented Class”, the two institutes combined the national strategic demand for talent cultivation in the field of green bio-manufacturing, and carried out detailed exchanges on the curriculum, teaching mode, practice links, etc., which resulted in many innovative ideas and sparks of cooperation.
The research and exchange activities were rich in content, pragmatic and efficient, which not only deepened the mutual understanding between the two institutions, but also injected new vitality into the synergistic development of the two schools in the field of bioengineering. Both sides agreed to take this exchange as a new starting point, continue to strengthen communication and cooperation, jointly implement the national education and science and technology policies, and work together to promote talent training and scientific and technological innovation in the field of bioengineering, so as to contribute more wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of China's bio-industry.
