Beijing University of Chemical Technology was established in 1958 as a high-level university founded by the People's Republic of China to cultivate advanced chemical engineering professionals for cutting-edge scientific development. As a key national university directly under the Ministry of Education, it is a key institution under the national “211 Project” and “985 Engineering” initiative for discipline innovation platforms, a member of the national “Double First-Class” initiative, and a member of the Beijing Alliance of High-Tech Universities.


The university has achieved outstanding results in education, scientific research, and knowledge transfer. According to the September 2025 ESI rankings released by Clarivate Analytics, the university ranks 385th globally and 48th nationally in the ESI overall rankings. Ten disciplines—Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Biology and Biochemistry, Environmental/Ecology,“ ”Computer Science,“ ”Agricultural Sciences,“ ”Earth Sciences,“ ”Physics,“ and ”Pharmacology & Toxicology.“ Among these, ‘Chemistry’ ranks 37th globally, ”Materials Science“ ranks 51st, and ”Engineering" ranks 192nd, all firmly securing positions within the top 1‰ worldwide. On June 17, 2025, U.S. News released its 2025 World University Rankings, placing Beijing University of Chemical Technology at 319th globally. Three first-level disciplines—Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Materials Science and Engineering—were all ranked among the top disciplines in China's fifth-round discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education.




Discipline Development


The School of Life Sciences and Technology was established on December 25, 2003. The school has developed a comprehensive talent cultivation system encompassing bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Undergraduate programs include four majors:

- Bioengineering and Pharmaceutical Engineering (National First-Class Undergraduate Programs)

- Biomedical Engineering (Beijing Municipal First-Class Undergraduate Program)

- Bioengineering + Big Data Management and Application (Dual Bachelor's Degree Program) Graduate programs encompass 4 academic master's programs, 1 professional master's program, 2 first-level doctoral programs, and 2 professional doctoral degree programs. Chemical Engineering and Technology is a national first-class discipline, while Biological Engineering ranks among the top disciplines in China's fifth-round discipline assessment.



Research Platforms


The school possesses nationally leading research capabilities in green biomanufacturing, biological resources and environmental engineering, Synthetic Biology, Biomedical Engineering, and Biosafety. Faculty


The School currently employs 94 faculty members, including 20 distinguished scholars such as Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chief Scientists of the National “973” Program, Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professors, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and national-level young talents. The School places high importance on educational quality, actively innovates talent development models, and provides comprehensive student support. It boasts 2 National Teaching Masters and 12 Provincial/Ministerial Teaching Masters.



Compensation for Open Positions


The School of Life Sciences and Technology at Beijing University of Chemical Technology welcomes applications from PhD holders with relevant research backgrounds. Successful candidates will receive generous start-up funds and an optimal working environment from both the university and the school. Talent Recruitment Policies


1. Outstanding Young Scholars


Candidates must possess the qualifications and capabilities to serve as professors, doctoral advisors, and academic leaders in specific research fields, along with extensive experience in mentoring graduate students or junior faculty. Age generally not exceeding 40 years old.


Appointed as Professor with research start-up funds, laboratory and office space, a full-time team assistant, living allowance, temporary housing or equivalent rental subsidy. Exceptional candidates receive high-performance bonuses and spousal employment assistance.


2. Outstanding Young Talent


Possess the qualifications and capabilities to serve as Associate Professor or above, generally not exceeding 35 years of age, and capable of leading research in existing or emerging interdisciplinary fields.


Appointed as Associate Professor or Probationary Professor, with research start-up funds, temporary housing, or corresponding rental subsidies provided.


3. Outstanding Young Reserve Talent


Possess the qualifications and capabilities for a Probationary Associate Professor position, generally not exceeding 32 years of age, and capable of serving as an academic backbone in an existing discipline or emerging interdisciplinary research direction.


Appointed as Probationary Associate Professor, with research start-up funds and rental subsidies provided.
