Dr. Li has led or participated in 9 national and provincial-level research projects, including major national/provincial special projects, key projects, innovation funds, social security projects, and general programs. He has published 40 articles in Chinese core journals (including the Chinese Medical Association series) and over 30 SCI-indexed papers. As the first author, he has published 4 clinical guidelines and participated in formulating 7 consensus statements, guidelines, and industry standards. He holds over 70 Chinese utility model and invention patents (including 13 invention patents, all as patentee or inventor), with 3 patents currently in clinical translation (one has obtained the Class III medical device registration certificate, and two are under preparation). He has won 8 first prizes in competitions organized by journals (e.g., China Orthopaedic Journal) and national/provincial medical associations, as well as two first prizes in the China Ministry of Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (two consecutive sessions). He received the 2020 Second Prize of the Central Military Commission Army Science and Technology Progress Award, and the 2023 First Prize of the Provincial/Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award (Technical Invention Category). His cumulative research funding exceeds 15 million RMB.

Abstract

From the perspective of a practicing orthopedic surgeon and drawing on his own research experience, this lecture systematically describes how to identify scientific questions from daily clinical practice and realize effective translational research toward "pharmaceutical-device integration". Focusing on joint development of drugs and devices, as well as in-depth exploration of disease pathogenesis, Dr. Li will share the reverse-translation pathway: starting from clinical pain points, validating through basic research, and ultimately translating into clinical applications. Through case studies, he will discuss innovation strategies and key bottlenecks under the background of medicine-engineering collaboration, aiming to inspire ideas for cross-disciplinary integration and support multi-disciplinary collaboration and the implementation of research outcomes.
